Prerequisites:
To participate in this workshop, an attendee will need to:

1. Have been very recently promoted to the position of Director or Associate Director at either their current institution or at a new institution, or anticipate they will soon become Directors of IR. 


Description:
This workshop is designed to assist IR professionals who have been very recently promoted to the position of IR Director or Associate Director at either their current institution or at a new institution, or anticipate they will soon become Directors of IR. As a result of the discussion/interactive nature of the workshop, attendees will learn to: organize the office for success; turn data into information; improve data integrity; assess the IR function in their institution; adapt to the evolving role of IR; and train and mentor staff and constituents for maximum productivity and efficiency. This workshop will also focus on participants' real workplace situations regarding the above topics. We will discuss challenges and brainstorm different potential resolutions for these challenges.

Intended Learning Outcomes:
Participants in this workshop will:

1. Learn to/improve their ability to: organize the office for success; turn data into information; improve data integrity; assess the the IR function in their institution; and adapt to the evolving role of IR.
2. Develop skills to address professional development needs of their staff and learn ways of effective mentoring, thus creating a more cohesive team atmosphere in the office.
