NEAIR Endowed Leadership Team Conf Scholarship
NEAIR Endowed Leadership Team Annual Conference Scholarship Application Form
The NEAIR Endowed Leadership Team Annual Conference Scholarship will be awarded to three recipients, fully covering attendance costs up to $2,500 each for the 2024 Newport Conference. This scholarship was created in response to member feedback indicating a need to cover the full cost of attending the conference.
We recognize that financial challenges can vary widely among our members. This scholarship is designed to alleviate these obstacles, covering expenses such as travel, accommodation, and even childcare during the conference. By doing so, we aim to ensure that all members are able to benefit from the conference experience, regardless of financial position. The 2024 cycle will serve as a pilot for this scholarship, at the end of which the process and impact will be evaluated by the Steering Committee.
Applications for the scholarship will be accepted until Friday, August 16th at 11:59pm.

How do I apply for the scholarship?
Click the button at the top of this page to be taken to the application. Once you are logged in, you will be respond to six questions, which are:
- Did you attend last year’s NEAIR conference?
- How many NEAIR conferences have you attended in the last five years?
- Are you able to attend the conference this year without these scholarship funds?
- Has your ability to attend the NEAIR conference been affected by budget constraints?
- By attending this conference, what do you expect to take back to your institution?
- What do you expect to gain from attending this conference?
You will also submit your anticipated expenses and total amount of funding needed.
How will NEAIR choose the scholarship recipients?
Applicants will be evaluated against a rubric corresponding to each of the questions listed above and internally collected data about the applicant’s institution’s representation at recent NEAIR conferences.
What happens if I am chosen as a recipient of the scholarship?
Awardees will provide a reimbursement request with receipts by Tuesday, December 3rd, and will be reimbursed for the documented amount, up to $2,500, directly.
The goal of this scholarship is to alleviate as many financial barriers as possible. While our preference as a volunteer institution is to reimburse, applicants who might need alternatives are encouraged to email President Melissa Hartz (mlhartz@colby.edu) or Managing Director Brenda Bretz (neair@neair.org) to discuss.
While we cannot promise that all circumstances can be accommodated, we will do our best to assist in a manner that is reasonable for a volunteer professional organization.
If I am not awarded the scholarship, what other offerings are there to help defray conference attendance costs?
Applicants who are not awarded the Annual Conference Scholarship are encouraged to apply for the Memorial Conference Grant, which covers up to $1,000 of conference attendance expenses.
Are there any conditions or rules associated with the scholarship?
Scholarship recipients will be required to book accommodation at the conference hotel for the duration of the event. Also, please note that NEAIR does not reimburse or pay for alcohol expenses - alcohol is not eligible to be covered by the scholarship.
I have a question not listed here - who can I contact?
Please contact President Melissa Hartz (mlhartz@colby.edu) or Managing Director Brenda Bretz (neair@neair.org) with questions or concerns.
